Messy Tots

Children love to get Messy! But did you know Messy play is beneficial to their development?

Scientists have discovered that messy children are more likely to be better at learning.

Toddlers who grasp, feel, taste and even throw objects are constantly gathering information about the world around them, according to a new study.

Psychologists tested 72 toddlers each aged 16 months, presenting them with a number of items and then seeing if they could learn their made-up names.

And they discovered that those who were more messy were better at learning and retaining the words.

After many years at various Toddler groups the thing I noticed at some groups that it was lacking in interaction. Parents often wouldn't approach each other, and the children run about aimlessly. My own children love Messy play, and I know it really creates an interactive experience for parents and children.

At Messy Tots we encourage you to get on the floor and get messy with your child, talk and play together, and I've found as parents are all sitting down engaging with the children, they get chatting to each other easier too. Which in turn helps your children's social development.

Each week there's something new to explore and learn, so come along and join us!
